Accenture Acquires Ookla for $1.2B, Aiming to Enhance Network Analytics for AI and Enterprise Clients

Accenture, a global IT consulting and services firm, has finalized a deal to acquire Ookla from Ziff Davis for $1.2 billion in cash. Ookla is best known for operating Speedtest and Downdetector, along with other network performance tools. The acquisition aims to merge Ookla’s data products into Accenture’s existing offerings, targeting communications service providers, hyperscalers, government agencies, and various other customers. According to Accenture’s announcement, this integration will help optimize mission-critical Wi-Fi and 5G networks.

Ookla’s portfolio extends beyond its flagship services to include Ekahau, which provides troubleshooting and design tools for wireless networks, and RootMetrics, a platform for monitoring mobile network performance. Accenture plans to leverage data from these services for multiple applications. These include assisting hyperscalers and cloud providers in ensuring the resilience of AI infrastructure and edge datacenters, which handle the majority of inference workloads. Other uses involve improving fraud prevention in banking, conducting smart home analytics for utilities, and optimizing retail traffic.

In a statement, Accenture’s chief strategy and services officer, Manish Sharma, highlighted the strategic value of the acquisition. He said, “Speedtest and RootMetrics define the experience; Downdetector identifies incidents faster; and Ekahau drives digital workplace transformation through superior Wi-Fi. In an era of omni-channel and agentic access, low-latency, zero-friction connectivity is a competitive necessity, and these tools give enterprises the power to build the high-performance environments they need.”

Ookla reports that its products facilitate approximately 250 million consumer-initiated tests each month. The company employs around 430 people and achieved a net income of $76.1 million with revenue of $230.7 million in 2025. This financial performance underscores the scale and impact of its network analytics services in the market.
